Security and compliance don't depend on what you pay.
Free Team users and paying Associations get the same protections. Consent, deletion, and data exports are recorded for every member, and that record is kept even after an account is closed. If you ever need to verify what was agreed to or what was removed, ask us and we can show you. Everyone follows the same rules about who can see what. Every child needs a guardian's approval. And there are no third-party ad trackers anywhere.
You pay more for scale, and for the features that cost us to run. You never pay for a higher tier of trust.

The billing questions worth answering up front.
I'm a parent. Will I ever be charged?
No — not for your child being on a team, and not if they're on ten teams. Recursive only ever charges the person who chooses to buy a plan for themselves. If a coach, club, or league adds your child to a roster, that's their plan, not yours, and none of it bills you. You and your family use Recursive free: schedules, scores, rosters, notifications, and following your child's teams. The only way you'd ever pay is if you personally decided to run a team or club of your own and picked a paid plan.
Is the Team tier really free?
Yes. A single team using Recursive pays nothing: no trial, no countdown, no quiet caps on players or games. If you outgrow Team by running multiple teams, a league, or a tournament, that's when Club's flat monthly fee kicks in.
When should I upgrade from Club to Club Pro?
When you're running more than Club comfortably covers, teams and leagues stacking up, and you'd rather not think about it. Club Pro is the same product at unlimited scale, plus faster support response.
Do you offer annual billing?
Yes, on Club and Club Pro. Annual billing saves roughly 15% off the monthly rate. Association contracts are always annual.
Why is Streaming-as-Link free but uploaded video paid?
Different products with different cost structures. When you paste a public stream link, the streaming infrastructure cost lives with the streaming provider. Recursive just renders the embed, so it's free at every tier. Uploaded video, when it arrives, will consume our storage and processing, so the person uploading pays for it. The principle is consistent: we charge when a feature costs us money to deliver.
How will player insights work for kids?
Guardian consent comes first, per child. Insights aren't here yet. And when they arrive, they'll default to off for any minor on the platform, and a coach won't be able to run them against a child whose guardian hasn't agreed. That holds on Club and Club Pro too: bundling the feature into a plan won't buy a way around a parent's decision.
What counts as a "team" or a "club"?
A team is one group of players with one roster and one schedule. A club is two or more teams under a shared organization, typically with league or tournament participation. If you're a coach running one U10 soccer team, you're on Team. If you coach three independent teams without a club entity, you're on Team for each (still free). If you're running a youth soccer club with eight age groups, you're on Club.
Can I start on Club and downgrade to Team later?
Yes. If your circumstances change (the club dissolves, you transfer admin to someone else, the season ends), you can move to the Team tier. Your data stays in place; you just lose access to multi-team features. Same applies to Club Pro → Club.
When does billing start?
Billing on Club and Club Pro starts the day you upgrade. Associations are quoted individually; billing starts per the contract. We never bill a free Team tier, ever.
What happens to my data if I cancel?
Cancelling doesn't erase your work. Email us and we'll export your data for you, and we'll delete it on request. What we keep, how long we keep it, and how to have it removed are all spelled out on our Privacy page.
